Ciaran, in my German chocolate cake I used solid baking chocolate and it's actually called "German Chocolate Baking Squares." I don't know if they have it there. If not, let me know and I'll gladly send you some.
I hadn't seen that video and I absolutely agree 100%.
As a PS to my post about German baking chocolate, I got to thinking that a better description might be necessary. It is more like a milk chocolate and not a dark chocolate. So it makes a lighter chocolate cake.
we have so many kinds of chocolate here in Germany I lose track sometimes. But yes, we have that kind you used. How funny - Americans make German chocolote cakes and Germans love to make American brownies. :)
